Christina Burgess, from the Friends of Goostrey Station, writes ….
I’m delighted that Goostrey has been shortlisted in the World Cup of Stations and we feature in a launch film for the event. When we began work in 2012, we couldn’t have imagined this scenario!
But now we have to encourage people to vote for Goostrey. We were successful in 2019 and won the award for the photo that best captures the essence of Community Rail. And last year we came second in that category. So we have form – but this time we may have to vote 3 times!
Here’s the link to the film on Twitter which is launching the World Cup of Stations. It explains what the competition is about and it features Friends of Goostrey Station! It’s probably best accessed through a mobile phone.

The first voting day for us is Wednesday 24th May. This is the group stage and we’re in a group with Runcorn, Birkdale and Hindley. If we win we go to the semi-finals on 25th May.
Thank you for your support for our award winning group of volunteers. It would be great if you could ask family and friends to help as well.
